Ducati TT2 Replica
History and Development
One of the top bike magazines described the Pantah 500 as:
“nothing in the world is more powerful or goes faster than the Pantah.”
Designed by an unrivalled team of gurus – Taglioni, Mengoli, Bocchi and
Martini – it was, by all accounts, one of the most successful bikes in
Ducati production history. In 1981 Ducati prepared an amazing racing twin based on the production
Pantah: it was known simply as the TT2. The frame was extremely light
at just 7kg. The fork was a Marzocchi with magnesium-dash alloy
sheaths, while the single-shock cantilever rear suspension used a
single Paioli unit. Also noteworthy were the Campagnolo ultra-light
alloy wheels with a diameter of 18”; later the bike was fit with a 16”
front wheel. The bike used a Brembo braking system with a twin 280 mm
disk up front. The engine was pushed to the regulation limit of 597cc. This TT2 replica is based on a 1981 500 Pantah and was completley restored in 2007. It is used on the road and visited the Isle of Man in 2008 when it won the Best Special at the Ducati Owners Club meeting. It has also taken part in the 2010 VMCC Manx Rally Parade lap and numerous 1000 bike parades.
